Central Nurseries is hiring multiple positions in several of our divisions including our garden center, nursery, maintenance and landscape installation divisions.

Garden Center Sales Associates for both our Johnston & Chepachet locations.

We are hiring for both part time and full time seasonal positions (approximately April – November). We’re open Monday – Saturday.

Responsibilities include:

• Plant material sales to both retail and wholesale customers

• Answering phone calls

• Register functions

• Loading customers

• Pulling customer orders

• Unloading shipments

• Maintain healthy nursery stock and assist with seasonal plant rotation in the yard

• Proper irrigation of plant material

• Pruning, trimming, clipping and fertilization of plant material.

The ideal candidate should have a valid driver’s license, prior experience working in the industry (preferably in a garden center) or a formal education in horticulture. Applicants should have a working knowledge of plant/horticultural material. Candidate must possess the ability to learn and retain information quickly. You must be willing to work throughout inclement weather, able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and able to be on your feet most of the work day. Individual should be familiar with safety training for handling yard and farm/garden center tools.

Yard Assistants for both our Johnston & Chepachet locations

We are hiring for both part time and full time seasonal positions (approximately April – November). We’re open Monday – Saturday.

Responsibilities include:

Customer loading (hardgoods and plant material)
Pulling customer orders
Unloading shipments
Proper irrigation of plant material
Maintain healthy nursery stock
Plant material merchandising
Assist in opening and closing the yard
Assist in repairs and projects around the yard
Education, training, experience:

The ideal candidate should have prior experience working in the industry. Should be aware of proper handling or loading and unloading plant and landscape materials. Individuals should be familiar with safety training for handling yard and farm/garden/landscape tools and equipment. During the busy spring season you must be available to work 6 days a week, Monday – Saturday. You must be willing to work throughout inclement weather, able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and able to be on your feet most of the work day. We are looking for someone who will be a good fit to our team, who can work alongside our multiple divisions.

Laborers for our maintenance and landscape installation divisions

Full time seasonal positions

Should be aware of proper handling or loading and unloading plant and landscape materials. Should be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Individuals should be familiar with safety training for handling yard and farm/garden/landscape tools and equipment. Knowledge of farm/landscape equipment a plus. Bi-lingual individuals (English/Spanish) are urged to apply for consideration. Must be available Monday – Saturday from April through November.
