Garden Center Sales Associates (Johnston):

We are looking for sales associates for our Garden Center in Johnston to help with both retail and wholesale clients. The ideal candidate would have a valid driver’s license, experience working in the green industry (preferably in a garden center) or a formal education in horticulture. Applicants should possess a working knowledge of plant/horticultural material as well as pests and diseases. Must be willing to work in inclement weather and able to lift up to 50 lbs. Basic computer and register skills are required. Individual should be familiar with safety training for handling yard and farm/garden center tools. Several full time (seasonal April – November) and part time (seasonal April – November) positions are available.

 

 

Nursery Sales/Production Assistant (Chepachet):

We are looking for a nursery production assistant/sales associate for our nursery in Chepachet. This is a full time seasonal position, Monday – Saturday from April through November. Responsibilities include supervising and aiding in the proper loading, unloading and handling of plant material and hard-goods with emphasis on inspecting and noting overall quality, size and the actual count of order. Person will be responsible for merchandising of plant material throughout the sales yard and proper irrigation of plant material (B&B as well as containers). Greenhouse maintenance, pruning, trimming, clipping and fertilization of plant material. Sales assistance for both retail and wholesale clients.

Relevant experience or a formal education in horticulture or a related field is required. Applicants should possess a working knowledge of plant/horticultural material. Basic computer and register skills are required. Individual should be familiar with safety training for handling yard and farm/garden center tools. Should be able to operate some equipment but not required, will train. Must be willing to work in inclement weather and able to lift up to 50 lbs.

 

 

Yard Operations Leader (Johnston):

We are looking for a yard operations leader for our Johnston location which is a full time seasonal position (approximately April – November). Responsibilities include:

  • Plant material sales to both retail and wholesale customers
  • Oversee customer loading
  • Pulling customer orders
  • Unloading shipments
  • Assist in completing special orders in a timely and efficient manner
  • Responsible for effectively communicating information regarding plant shipments to Garden Center Manager, Staff and Wholesale General Manager
  • Maintain healthy nursery stock and assist with seasonal plant rotation in the yard
  • Plant material merchandising
  • Partner with Garden Center Manager in planning for seasonal tasks and management of nursery stock.
  • Responsible for overseeing the closing down the yard at the end of the sales day
  • Partnering with the Garden Center Manager in maintaining a safe and satisfying workplace as well as meeting sales goals and company objectives.

Education, training, experience: The ideal candidate should have a valid driver’s license, prior experience working in the industry (preferably in a garden center) or a formal education in horticulture, candidate must possess the ability to learn and retain information quickly. During the busy spring season you must be available to work 6 days a week, Monday – Saturday. You must be willing to work throughout inclement weather, able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and able to be on your feet most of the work day. Experience operating a backhoe and other construction is a plus but is not a requirement. We are looking for someone who will be a good fit to our team, who can work alongside our multiple divisions.

 

 

Landscape Maintenance Foremen:

Central Nurseries, Inc. is looking for foremen for the maintenance division to work throughout RI, MA and parts of CT. Responsibilities include: crew management & leadership, vehicle & equipment management, record keeping, client relations, etc. This is a full time (but seasonal) position. Monday – Saturday during the season.

Experience required in all phases of landscape work including but not limited to: mowing, pruning, trimming, planting, equipment operation, etc. At least 3 years experience in supervisory capacity, valid commercial applicators license, clean driving record, valid drivers license (CDL is preferred), the ability to drive a truck with a trailer, strong work ethic required. Knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.

 

 

Landscape Laborers:

Central Nurseries is looking for laborers for our maintenance and landscape installation division o work throughout RI, MA and parts of CT. Applicants should be aware of proper handling or loading and unloading plant and landscape materials. Should be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Individuals should be familiar with safety training for handling yard/landscape tools and equipment. Knowledge of farm/landscape equipment a plus. Bi-lingual individuals (English/Spanish) are urged to apply for consideration. Must be available Monday – Saturday from April through November.

 

 

CDL Drivers:

Central Nurseries is now hiring CDL drivers. At least 5 years of experience required. Class A license is preferred but not required. Medical card required.
