Garden Center Sales Associate/Yard Laborers for our Johnston location. We are hiring for both part time and full time seasonal positions (approximately April – November). We’re open Monday – Saturday.

Responsibilities include:

• Plant material sales to both retail and wholesale customers

• Register functions

• Loading customers

• Pulling customer orders

• Unloading shipments

• Maintain healthy nursery stock and assist with seasonal plant rotation in the yard

• Proper irrigation of plant material

• Greenhouse maintenance, pruning, trimming, clipping and fertilization of plant material.

The ideal candidate should have a valid driver’s license, prior experience working in the industry (preferably in a garden center) or a formal education in horticulture. Candidate must possess the ability to learn and retain information quickly. You must be willing to work throughout inclement weather, able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and able to be on your feet most of the work day. Individual should be familiar with safety training for handling yard and farm/garden center tools.

Central Nurseries is currently looking for a Landscape Maintenance Operations Manager based out of our Johnston, RI office.

This position is responsible for managing all field operations within Maintenance Division. Coordinates the procurement and scheduled use of resources, including labor, equipment and materials to ensure maximum use and completion of contract maintenance work within budget, safety guidelines and company quality standards. Promotes the growth and development of field staff and assists them in carrying out their responsibilities as needed. Coordinates use of available resources for other divisions when required and lends support to operational activities for the entire Company. This is a year round, full time position. Includes company vehicle, iPhone, desktop, laptop, iPad etc.

Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Manages and schedules labor, equipment and material to accomplish contract maintenance schedules within established budgets. Understand contract specifications and ensure they are met.
  • Have excellent client communications and experience maintaining customer’s satisfaction. Respond to customer complaints in a timely manner to ensure proper handling to achieve excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures all work is completed in adherence to safety policies and guidelines. Conducts frequent safety training and safety inspections on job sites.
  • Investigates any accident or safety violation, prepares appropriate reports, takes action steps to correct and prevent future occurrences. Defines and implements solutions to recurring accidents or most common hazards.
  • Maintains proper inventory of materials, equipment and other supplies are on hand to complete maintenance activities.
  • Maintains sufficient staff to accomplish maintenance schedules and analyzes future needs, forecasting staff and material needs to complete future maintenance jobs.
  • Conducts timely performance reviews of direct reports and take corrective actions when appropriate.
  • Coordinate the use of labor, equipment and materials with other divisions as needed.
  • Visit job sites on a regular basis, observing organization of work, identifying and resolving training issues, taking necessary actions to ensure quality.
  • Maintain day-to-day working knowledge of all maintenance contracts in progress, including field completion status, billings-to-date and progress payments.

Qualifications / Educational Requirements

Associate Degree – Horticulture / Turf Management and / or 5 – 10 years relevant experience

Three (3) years supervisory experience

Knowledge of computer applications – Microsoft Office Suite, LMN Software

Valid Drivers License

 

 

 

 

Central Nurseries is currently looking for a Landscape Maintenance Account Manager.

The Account Manager works under the Landscape Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with clients throughout RI, MA and CT and will serve as the primary contact for assigned accounts. This position will develop landscape maintenance estimates and enhancements for new and existing clients. The Account Manager works in conjunction with a Field Supervisor to deliver the highest quality of landscape maintenance services while keeping in line with contract specifications.

Responsibilities:

Communicate with clients on a regular basis making sure we are meeting and exceeding their expectations

Develop maintenance agreements and estimates using company templates

Proactively present site enhancement ideas to existing customers

Ensure renewals of each current account within the customer portfolio

Inspect properties ahead of scheduled service, identifying problems and developing strategies to fix any issues.

Manage all assigned jobs cost effectively and to the agreed budget, including scheduling labor hours and materials.

Monitor crew production in comparison to contracted figures

Participate in snow operations

When necessary, assist crews to meet work and scheduling demands

Communicate with the Maintenance Director regarding customer questions and concerns.

Follow proper procedures to ensure timely billing of completed jobs

Qualifications:

Valid driver’s license

Excellent customer relation and conflict resolution skills

Experienced use in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn industry programs quickly.

Ability to compose proposals, client communications, and evaluations of employees and assigned properties

5+ years of experience in landscape industry in a leadership position

2+ years of experience as an account manager

High attention to detail

Excellent leadership skills

Exceptional Plant ID skills

Plant /Turf disease/insect ID skills

Great professional communication skills

Responsibilities include: crew management & leadership, vehicle & equipment management, record keeping, client relations, etc. This is a full time (but seasonal) position. Monday – Saturday during the season. Competitive salary depending on experience, plus benefits.

Experience required in all phases of landscape work including but not limited to: mowing, pruning, trimming, planting, equipment operation, etc. At least 3 years experience in supervisory capacity, valid commercial applicators license (or the ability to obtain one within 6 months), clean driving record, valid drivers license (CDL is preferred), the ability to drive a truck with a trailer, strong work ethic required. Knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.

Monday – Saturday during the season. Competitive salary depending on experience, plus benefits.

Experience required in all phases of landscape work including but not limited to: plantings; hardscapes; drainage work; pruning; turf renovation; light carpentry, etc. (3) years’ experience in supervisory capacity, clean driving record, valid driver’s license (CDL is preferred), the ability to drive a truck with a trailer, strong work ethic required. Knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.
